A couple of us went to Alaska, and I guess we were the most active here on the forum. I just got back, but Steve is still traveling. I'm guessing things will pick up here later this month.
Cool, I have always wanted to ride there, or Florida. I am going to be visiting reletives in Oregon the first of next month then rideing up into Canada, but no way will we get as far as Alaska.
I will be looking forward to seeing more Saturday rides coming up.
B.C. is pretty nice area to ride. If you can make it up as far as Stewart, you can go into Hyder Alaska. It's so far South, you can't get to any other part of Alaska from there. There's not even customs going into Hyder.
The road in, 37a, was one of the most scenic stretches on the trip.
I enjoyed just riding in the US from Northern CA up when there wasn't traffic. Lots to see there too.
Came upon a post by a guy on the Adventure Rider forum about his experience on the Dempster Highway earlier this month. The day after he shot this video, he dropped his bike (rear wheel slide on loose gravel) and broke his ankle. He used his Satellite phone and GPS to get help.
When we got to Dawson City, there were a lot of GS riders in town. I was talking to a local about the rally they had there a week ago when another GS rider pulled up.
He told us how he just got back from the Dempster. His buddy had gone down, broke his wrist, and they were fortunate enough to flag down someone who was willing to put the bike in their pick-up to get it back down. Made me realize how lucky I got.
Besides his fall, looks like he had a nice weather window.
