HeatWave Riding Club was launched in December of 2007 by a group of friends who had been riding together for several years in other clubs. It's a club that puts a primary focus on the enjoyment of riding motorcycles, but also emphasizes the club aspect of being a riding club.
We seek out riders with a passion for riding over the mountains, through the canyons, exploring new roads, and spending the whole day on two wheels. We love doing those 200-300 mile rides along the back roads, trying to avoid freeways as much as possible.
As a riding club, doing rides is our primary goal, but the friendship and brotherhood is the key ingredient that keeps us together, not just on rides, but just hanging out after work, hosting parties and barbecues, or helping each other work on bikes.
The HeatWave RC is a collective, where there is no single club leader, and no top-down governance. There is a committee of founding members who are responsible for making sure the club is moving in the right direction. Otherwise, each member is expected to step up and contribute, perhaps by getting a ride going, hosting a get together, or just offering help in any way they can.
We're an independent riding club, not affiliated with any other club. While our members consider Southern California our home, we don't claim any territory.
Where in Southern California?
Most of our members live in Riverside County, but there are no limits on where members reside, as long as you can participate.
Philosophy
There isn't really any limitation on what kind of motorcycles we ride, as long as you can legally ride them. We're more about the thrill of riding, enjoying the scenery, and exploring new roads. Many of our rides run between 200 to 300 miles, though any member is free to lead or organize any ride they want. We do overnight rides, and do motorcycle camping trips.
We do participate in some charitable rides and do an occasional poker run, and will even go to a bike show. For most part however, our focus is riding the roads.
We believe in fewer rules, no politics, no drama, no cliques, and more personal responsibility. Each person is free to ride as fast or as slow as they want, provided they respect everyone else's riding style.
We welcome both new riders and experienced riders.
Membership
You don't have to be a club member to ride and hang out with us. You're free to participate as often as you'd like. But if you identify with the people in our club, identify with our philosophy, and support our goals, we welcome you to become a member.
